Harry Potter is one of the most popular and likable film franchises ever. The film has impacted all over the world over the last decade. The film contains so many scenes which have never been forgotten by the audience. The series is produced and distributed by Warner Bros Pictures and consists of eight fantasy films. Which started with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and ended with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2 (2011).
Philosopher’s Stone and Deathly Hallows: Part 2 rank as the 48th and 15th highest-grossing movies of all time, respectively, and have both made over $1 billion. They are both included in the top 50 highest-grossing movies of all time. With $7.7 billion in worldwide receipts, it is the fourth-highest-grossing film series.
The Harry Potter film concept
Harry Potter film franchise is based on Eponymous novels by J.K. Rowling. The first book in J.K. Rowling‘s planned series of seven Harry Potter novels arrived in late 1997 at the London offices of movie producer David Heyman. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was relegated to a bookcase with little attention until being found there by a secretary, who read it and gave Heyman a recommendation.
Heyman read the book himself after initially disliking “the terrible title.” Rowling’s work greatly inspired him, and he started the process that resulted in one of the greatest movie franchises ever.
Heyman’s enthusiasm inspired Rowling to sell the first four Harry Potter books’ picture rights to Warner Bros. in 1999 for an alleged £1 million (US$2,000,000).
J.K. Rowling’s demands for making film fantasy
Rowling demanded that the main cast be entirely British, but she did permit the casting of many Irish actors—including Richard Harris as Dumbledore—as well as actors from France and Eastern Europe in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when they were specifically designated as characters from the book.
By selling the rights to the characters, which would have allowed Warner Bros. to produce sequels not written by the author, Rowling was reluctant to sell the rights because she “didn’t want to give them power over the remainder of the plot.”
The casting of the Harry Potter role
Daniel Radcliffe a.k.a. Harry Potter is the main star cast of the Harry Potter movie. He is grown up with this character. And the character has given him stardom, wealth and so more. But when you think about characters then you will also think about how the star cast will have been decided. So here you know about it.
Following a seven-month search, director Daniel Radcliffe was found in 2000 by producers David Heyman and Steve Kloves, who were sitting directly behind them at a theatre.
Heyman stated, “There was this boy with these enormous blue eyes sitting behind me. Dan Radcliffe was there. I recall his curiosity, humor, and exuberance when I first met him. Real generosity as well as sweetness were present.
In the 1999 BBC television version of David Copperfield, where he played the main role’s youth, Radcliffe had already made a name for himself as an actor.
Heyman persuaded Radcliffe’s parents to agree to let him be filmed during an audition for the role of Harry Potter.
The casting of Ron and Hermione
The evergreen performance in Harry Potter fantasy Hermione performed by actress Emma Watson is incredible. Emma Watson really has an extraordinary and outstanding capability of acting. She made this film extraordinary and memorable with her acting skill. So every fan of the Harry Potter film franchise falls in love with Hermione. Here you get the information on how she has been selected. And also same for Rupert Grint a.k.a. Ron Weasley who also justice his role from his impressive performance.
From among the thousands of children’s performers who auditioned for the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley in 2000, the then-unknown British actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were chosen.
They had only performed in school plays before. Grint and Watson were cast when Grint was eleven years old and Watson ten years old.
Design for Hogwarts
Stuart Craig served as the production designer for all eight movies. Craig has built recognizable set pieces, such as the Ministry of Magic, the Chamber of Secrets, Malfoy Manor, and the design for the CGI Horcrux Cave, with the help of Stephenie McMillan. Craig had to construct several sets for upcoming films and change the look of Hogwarts because the novels were being published as the movies were being created.
Every time you saw the exterior of Hogwarts in the beginning, he claimed, it was a physical miniature constructed by artisans that took up a sizable sound stage. We eventually came up with a profile of what Hogwarts looked like; the skyline wasn’t always satisfactory, and as more books and movies were published, there were additional specifications [for structures].
It’s safe to say that the [Astronomy Tower] wasn’t there at first, thus we were able to add that huge component. The large courtyard outside was enlarged in size for the battle for Hogwarts in the most recent movie since it was completely absent in the first one.
The continuity of Hogwarts was violated in a number of ways. Craig “embraced the latest technology” by using a computer model rather than a miniature in the previous movie.
After the filming of the series was completed, some of Craig’s sets had to be rebuilt or moved for them to be displayed at the Warner Bros. studio tour.
